GMG Strategy, LLC is a leadership, policy, and workforce development consulting company, providing value-added expertise and activities to private and public companies, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations. Consultancies are tailored to meet the unique needs of each organization at each level – managers, C-level executives, and directors/board members. GMG Strategy president, Dr. Gary M. Green, brings over 40 years of experience in community college education and workforce development to support clients. 

GMG Strategy partners with CapDev Services for executive search and capital development services. Green serves as a senior counsel with CapDev Services.

Dr. Gary M. Green
President

Dr. Gary M. Green, president of GMG Strategy, LLC, is a regional and national leader in talent and workforce development and policy. He also serves as Chief Workforce Development Officer for the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and RegenMed Development Organization and Senior Counsel for CapDev Services. 

 

He served as President of Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, from 2001 through 2018. Prior to 2001, he held community college faculty and administrative positions in Kentucky and Alabama. Green has worked with major workforce training initiatives with such companies as Boeing, Reynolds American, HanesBrands, Dell, Siemens, and Caterpillar. 

 

Green led Forsyth Tech to become a national leader in technology-based workforce development. The college is the home of the National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce and developed the first nanotechnology associate degree program in North Carolina. 

 

Under Green’s leadership, the college established one of the first academic programs in cybersecurity in North Carolina and is designated a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) and the East Central US CAE Regional Resource Center for cybersecurity defense by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security. 

 

The Manufacturing Institute chose Forsyth Tech as one of four community colleges nationally to develop and model advanced manufacturing skills standards endorsed by the National Association of Manufacturers. Green serves on the Institute's Education Council.

 

Green has been a frequent presenter on workforce development and community college issues regionally, nationally, and internationally, including appearances on CNN, C-SPAN, and NPR. He was a presenter at joint US-European Union, US-Canada, and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conferences and was a speaker at the White House Conference on the Economy in 2004. He hosted visits to the college by President George W. Bush in 2003 and President Barack Obama in 2010.  

 

He serves as an affiliate faculty member at the North Carolina State University Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of HigherEd Works, a North Carolina higher education advocacy organization. Green previously served on the Board of the American Association of Community Colleges and the Higher Education Research and Development Institute.
